The matrix was a Christmas movie.
A miracle on 34th street was released in june by the way
by the way the original video box cover is proof its not a cm bc if it were then it would have some, any image that denotes it being a cm a christmas tree or any item but it doesn't.
And I’m guessing Die Hard with a Vengeance is a Summer movie, maybe because:
1. It came out in the Summer of 1995.
2. It takes place in the Summer?
1. Opening credits song: Christmas in Hollis
2. Movie Takes place at a Christmas Party.
3. Excessive use of Christmas Elements (tree, tons of Santa’s, lights, etc.)
– Number of unique Christmas trees: 11 Trees
– Number of unique non tree decorations: 15
4. The classic Ho-Ho-Ho elevator scene. He even puts the Santa hat on the defeated Tony.
5. Outro song: Let it snow
6. other songs: 7 Christmas Christmas Carols played.
7. The word Christmas used 14 times and 4 other Christmas references
8. Family focus: The main character, John McClane, is motivated to reunite with his family for Christmas, when he is faced by multiple difficulties which instill lessons of selflessness.
Die hard is a Christmas movie, end of story.
"DIE HARD is NOT a Christmas movie!" is a Christmas movie
Just came on here to thumbs down your video cause i disagree with you 😂. Die Hard is a Christmas movie !
Oh dear god, you're a SJW 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Then the Harry Potter movies are xmas movies lmao. Stop. You trolls are pathetic.
This video is a Christmas movie.
"Christmas movies, you know… like Scarface!"
"Christmas movies, you know… like Falling Down!"
You're wrong.
While I think this is a great video, I have to disagree with the conclusion that John McClane is a beacon of toxic masculinity. He is very apparently afraid at the situation around him and the entire first act is his attempts to notify the proper authorities. He doesn’t dive first into the action like some kind of power fantasy, he runs and hides and only when he is hopeless does he try to protect himself. He even cries as when he realizes he might die without APOLOGIZING to his wife for his wrongdoings, which are a direct byproduct of the standards forced upon him. At the end he refers to his wife by her preferred name instead of his surname and is ok with her career. The yuppies not helping isn’t some personal shortcoming, John was the only not taken hostage at gunpoint and only takes matters into his own hands when the police in charge are portrayed as incredibly incompetent to a lethal degree. Honestly, a lot of story beats have a left leaning bias. That’s just my thoughts.
Saying Die Hard isnt a christmas film is basic
Doe hard is whatvthe coroner puts on death certificate ehe someone overdose on Viagra
I stumbled on the weird corner of the internet again, damn you YT, this is scarry!
HEY WHAT THE HECK why did this video make me cry?!
Anyway, brand new queer audience member here, love your channel after seeing you for the first time yesterday 😀
….oh man….I’m triggered by you saying Die Hard isn’t a Christmas movie… idk what to think of that…(about myself mostly)…I mean it is my favorite Christmas movie…but it is just a movie…and I haven’t watched the video yet…
….ok …well here it goes…apparently I need to work on figuring out wtf else is wrong with me…crap…
He is there to hang out with his wife holly for the day……………
It’s a Holly Day
Hans Gruber is the man women wanna fuck, John McLain is the man men wanna fuck, is that a thesis?
♥️
15 y.o. Mildo, making cinnamon buns – "damn. this is a thing, isn't it?"
Her mum – "this is completely a thing. our every move is the new tradition"
I don’t know if this is meant to be a joke but that entire Die hard being concervitive section was painful to watch
3:55 his marriage is falling apart because of him not Holly. Thats genuinelly his main arc in the movie, him coming to terms with the fact that he was a bad husband.
4:08 he is not america hating. It is explicitly stated that he doesn’t care about terrorism and is just pretending to hate america in order to rob the building.
4:14 sure john mclane is the archetypal big strong man action hero but that is blatantly ignoring the best part of his character. Throughout the movie you see that he isn’t as big and strong as you think and he even opens up about his emotional problems, and so acting like he is just a generic masculine man is incredibly disingenuous and a disservice to one of the most relatable action heroes
4:25 she is not helpless with john to protect her. Throughout most of the film she takes the innitiative and stands up to hans even becoming the de facto leader of the hostages. It’s only in the last like 20 mins that she becomes a hostage.
4:30 that was in no way what the movie was saying. The movie wasn’t saying that she needed to become a subservient wife. Her taking off the watch is her rejecting the company and all the scummy rich people who she used to work with.
5:10 he accidentally shot the kid and the movie is in way saying what he did was right in fact his entire is about how horrible of a decision that was. Also it is in way about race or the movies way of saying it’s fine for cops to shoot kids.
6:05 this was quite clearly John making a joke because quite clearly the rules that say he shouldn’t kill people don’t apply to this situation.
It’s not a Christmas movie because the movie could have taken place on New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day or some time with John having a believable reason to visit his wife in Los Angeles.
The movie barely focuses on Christmas instead on German terrorists that would enjoy the cash on a beach in a other country after a successful heist of vast cash, and John struggling being in an unfamiliar situation.
Christmas Vacation, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Santa Claus, Jingle All The Way and multiple other Christmas movies wouldn’t have a story if it’s not set during the Christmas season.
"Nobody really thinks that, but the idea is so ridiculous that everyone just wants to get on the meme. Because it's funny"
Done.
Home alone is not a Christmas movie either.
Jumanji is a Christmas movie.
Literally the only reason I remember the Christmas scene at the end is because as a child I was obsessed with my Angel costume but mine was itchy and too small. The girl in the Christmas scene had the almost exact same one as me. I also really just like Hark the Herold and didn’t want to be poor. Anyway… Jumanji is a Christmas movie, I guess. Lmao
It's not a Christmas movie even Bruce Willis said it wasn't It's a movie with a Christmas background that's it.
I won't even waste my time watching this video. If Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie, then neither is Home Alone or It's a Wonderful Life either.
The entire movie is ON Christmas eve, Christmas music, the word Christmas is mentioned numerous times, by many people, even the terrorists. Merry Christmas, it's Christmas, a time for miracles. So 😛
This the Left’s version of “What is a woman?”, for we ask; “What is a Xmas movie?”.
My friend said they were tired of the "Die Hard is a Xmas Movie" arguments and I shared this video with them. It made them cry. Just a beautiful and masterfully composed video.
11:04 That is pretty much every man.
Hope you don't mind an ironically right-leaning Butterdragon ally chiming in. In the 1700s, I'd be considered left-wing, so don't even go by that.
9:40 Reconciliation between John and Holly. The bad guys are thieves, therefore representing greed, and they get defeated. Authority figures tend to be both incompetent and oppressive, thereby representing cruelty, and they get defeated (or defeat themselves). The news guy, Richard Thornburg, is a ruthless careerist who puts people's lives in danger for his own fame, thereby representing another form of greed, and he gets punched in the face by Holly, representing the clenched fist of revolutionary justice. [cue 'Spear of Justice' theme] Some of these are themes the left and the right can agree on.
10:19 A wiser fella than muhself once said, "As you know, the id wasn't meant to be starved." What some might think of as "toxic masculinity," others might think of as the male id expressing itself naturally. A prime example of a fictional character who embodies the male id is Randle MacMurphy from 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'. In that story, the male id represents free-spirited chaos, while Nurse Ratched symbolically represents a toxic female notion of oppressive "order." If that's "order," I'd rather have chaos! John McClane also represents chaos, in an intentionally ironic way, with Hans Gruber representing "order" (again, in an intentionally ironic way).
10:31 I'm going to assume that you're use of the Bowser icon is intentionally ironic since he's a pretty good representation of toxic masculinity. And like John McClane, he's struggled with relationships in the past. I've always thought the games should have explored that more. Would have made him more complex and interesting.
10:50 Jagermeister is better. It's like drinking the SOUL of a forest. Rugged yet clean. Primal yet sophisticated. Best consumed straight and chilled. Don't take that word "straight" out of context.
11:03 One can balance their yin with their yang, yo! Don't have to be a Taoist to put that into practice. I'd like to think Toby Fox would back me up on that since that's a recurring theme throughout Deltarune with Ralsei representing orderly yin and Susie representing chaotic yang (which is an intentionally ironic inversion of how yin and yang typically present themselves in most symbolic uses). See also Alphys (yin) and Undyne (yang) in original unmodded Undertale.
Edit/Note: Another good pair of characters representing a different sort of duality are Vash and Wolfwood from Trigun. Btw, there was a Trigun reference at the end of the True VASHifist route in Undertale.
11:15 McClane, himself, cries when he's talking to Powell over the walkie, trying to choke it back while describing his reconciliation speech that he wanted Powell to relay to Holly. On top of that, he knows that he might die (hard or otherwise).
12:25 Fred Rogers, like Bob Ross, is a real-world example of a man who found balance between yin and yang.
13:09 One can't uphold the ideals of Lawful Good without embracing one's inner Ralsei. But there's a time and a place to cut loose and be all Chaotic-like with that Susie energy (or Undyne energy, representing a more disciplined form of it). That's applicable to males and females alike regardless of age or generation.
14:40 If you don't reference Ralsei doing the "Charlie Brown" dance (actually done by the character known as "555 95472"), I'm gonna be really disappointed.
15:19 What if it's violence in service to The People's interests? Like the righteous violence of Ukrainian nationalist partisans. In this context, that's "nationalist" in the sense of "resistance against imperialism." Like the Czech Resistance or the Gaullist faction of the French Resistance.
15:55 Hufflepuff, represent! I know you claim to oppose "order," but you're basically describing a variation of the Lawful Good ideal. I still maintain that one needs balance between the Ralsei sitting on their right shoulder and the Susie sitting on their left. If we never invoke the left-hand path, then never realize our full potential as individuals. But if we lean too hard into it, then we're trying to become islands unto ourselves, which is an exercise in futility. Freud would have associated this notion of (a mostly Jungian concept of) duality with the id (Susie) and the superego (Ralsei) contradicting each other, and the ego (Kris) having to play the role of mediator.
16:38 A mix of Susie and Undyne energy. Lawful Good doesn't mean "Lawful Nice." In Ralsei's case, it does (see also Mr. Rogers). Refer back to what I said about McClane representing ironic "chaos." Could his D&D alignment actually be Neutral Good? Like Undyne, does he fight for a Lawful Good cause while fueling himself with Chaotic Good energy from within? See also Nicolas D. Wolfwood. God, I'm worse than Alphys! 😅
17:34 Ackchyually, I have some criticisms, despite it being an excellent movie. Mostly pertaining to the incompetent weapon handling. Why does everyone fire the HK94 (playing the role of the MP5A3) from the hip with the stock collapsed into its storage position? Why do movie people always do that? T2 got it right, even to the point of showing a left-handed SWAT operator (played by a real left-handed SWAT operator who James Cameron was friends with) doing the HK slap left-handed. Speaking of which, notice that Bruce Willis is left-handed. Bruce Campbell is also left-handed. Are all actors named "Bruce" left-handed? Is Bruce Dern left-handed? Did you ever see 'The 'Burbs'? Oh! How about 'Silent Running', the movie that inspired both 'WALL-E' and the aesthetics of MST3K?
18:34 As much as I love "dumb" action movies, I must levy the same criticism as above. The gunplay is often incompetent despite the fact that most moviemakers hire technical consultants. Michael Rooker is a rare example of an actor who conducts his own research on the tactility of things in order to be more authentic. He doesn't always nail it just right, like when he left the sights folded on his AR-15 in 'The Walking Dead'. He used a modified technique since his character, Merle, had lost his right hand but was still right-eye dominant. That's acceptable. Leaving the sights folded is a lack of attention to detail. Would attention to detail be considered a Ravenclaw trait?
19:41 Men do "kiddie" shit all the time! I used to work in a mattress factory. Blue-collar as can be. But believe it or not, I wasn't the only weeb there! Granted, people with that kind of (Undyne) energy – myself included – are typically more into Hellsing than, say, Tokyo Mew Mew, but there's a genre out there for everyone. Did you ever watch 'The Mysterious Cities of Gold'?
19:52 Kawaii, even! >///w///<
20:09 "Peace" doesn't mean "appeasement" or "defeatism." This is another philosophical concept that Undyne and Wolfwood understand. The ideals of Love and Peace must be fought for and defended, not taken for granted, and not left to be despoiled by the dual Leviathans of legalistic tyrants attacking from "above" and lawless marauders attacking from "below." Love and Peace are the pillars of civilization. Ralsei and Vash would back me up on that. Without a means of D-FENS, those pillars will topple. Undyne and Wolfwood would back me up on that.
21:03 Plot twist: Jesus was born in April (or the Hebrew month of Nisan). Christmas is a Catholicized rendition of the Roman festival of Saturnalia and isn't practiced by all Christians. Such Christians were once accused of "Judaizing" (not my term) and were persecuted, oppressed, and massacred by the proto-fashy imperialist Catholic Church of the Dark Ages.
22:34 Muh Sam-Sam! I knew muh Sam-Sam would be in there! >w< We used to do art trades on DA back in the dayay. And yeah, some of our sociopolitical (and/or socioeconomic) ideals are completely different from each other, but so what?! Lib-left and lib-right should join forces against auth-everything!
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." – John 3:16 KJV
It's soundtrack is constructed like a Christmas musical
Thought slime is genuinely painful to listen to.
2:00 really missed something going with Mark Watney instead of Sophie there.
