As an elementary teacher, it always makes me sad to hear the different kids share with each other what "Santa" brought them. The kids in poverty get nothing or very little and the ones in higher income homes get really excessive gifts from "him." That always made me uninterested in teaching my own kids about Santa…besides all the spiritual aspects.
This year for Christmas I'm going to a play based of the life of Jesus. I'm so excited for it I also went last year and it was AMAZING. This year my family is going to bake cookies and do fun activities leading up to it.
"What is the Epitome of Parenting done Right?" "Watch Toups Time." 😉

interesting take on the Santa topic. I am from Europe and I believe it is in the most countries like that, that St Nikolaus is the one that comes on December 6th to bring tangerines, nuts and chocolates to children that behaved well and those who didnt get coal and potato peels (nobody ever gets them but i have heard horror stories from friends that somebody dressed up as St Nikolaus would put them into St Nikolaus‘ bag 😂). On Christmas (which is mostly celebrated on the evening of 24th of December, UK is exception for this as they celebrate 25th in the morning), the „Christian child“ (= my loose translation for „Christkind“ = Jesus) brings the gifts. That kind of solves the whole Santa topic here, which is rather known as an American thing. Children believe that the „Christkind“ brings the gifts. We do have a „Weihnachtsmann“ („Christmas man“) in Germany at least, what would be Santa Claus, but parents tell their children that the „Christkind“ brings the gifts.
These are fun traditions!
Hi Cody and Jessie, this is such a great video. My parents used to put from Santa under the Christmas tree but the most important thing is my parents always told us that Jesus is the center of everything. I could remember my parents reading the Bible to us and asking questions as a kids. Watching Christmas movies I think it’s the best. The Little Drummer Boy, Charlie Brown and The Santa Claus. Thanks for posting God Bless you all 🙌😃
You two are a breath of fresh air!
Our kids are obsessed with the Grinch also 🤣 he’s their favorite! like what’s that about? 🤣🤣🤣
No Santa for us, only focus is Jesus at Christmas time in our house!
🙏 Holidays Blessings 🌲 Christ is the reason for the Season
We don’t celebrate Santa either. We also watch all the movies.
When our oldest was two we struggled on if we would start the tradition or not because I believed until I was 11 and my husband and I both had experiences dealing with the lack of gifts (my husband thought it was because he was a bad kid and my mom and I ended up buying all the Santa gifts for my daddy and stepmom one year due to them not having any money, causing my daddy to spiral into a depression, and my three kid sisters still believed), or knowledge of what we were celebrating. Well, we took our son for pictures and he automatically says, “Santa is fake. He is wearing a costume.” Luckily he was highly intelligent and scientific based, so God literally answered our question of if we should lie to our child by speaking through him.
Christmas is still magical and our boys’ favorite holiday. We wait to put gifts out until they are asleep but they know exactly who worked hard and put love into making or choosing them.
We also try not to visit anyone on Christmas or Thanksgiving and just make whatever foods we are craving as an immediate family.
We cut up lots of strips of yellow, brown, and tan construction paper. Every time our kids intentionally do something kind or give to others, they (or we) write down their good deed on a strip of construction paper. These strips are used to fill up Jesus’ manger. The more “straw” or “hay” the better, so we encourage good behavior and kind deeds all month long so baby Jesus can have a comfortable manger to lay in.
NASALY VOCALS!!!! No sincerely I really don't care. I just love your videos.
I'm from Alabama but my dad has Cajun family so a couple years we decided to swap things up & we do a cajun Christmas & we love it
Love you both. I wish more families raised their children that Christmas is about Jesus birthday. Not so much about Santa. I believe that there are too many torn families and disrespectful children now because the lack of teaching about Christ. Years ago children went to church with their families. Now many people just dont have time because of the way the world is going . Both parents are busy working and too tired to go to church. What a shame . Jessie when the kids grow up and move on ,you can give them their childhood ornaments to pass on to their children. Thats a long time from now.Savor every minute .Have a wonderful Christmas.
Thank you for emphasizing the Life of Christ on your channel! Blessings!
Santa is such a touchy topic now days! Such silly things people get riled up over. Happy to see you guys talk about it! Likewise, we aren't big on santa here either, but us parents grew up on santa movies and thought they were funny. I was sad to see about the new Tim Allan santa movie had the "we love satan" scene. Someone thought it was funny to mix up the letters. We used to love those movies as kids.
Great ideas, for my grands. Thanks for sharing!!!❤
“ he took you off the market” 🤭
Really enjoyed this continue to go all out for JESUS
thanks for sharing
Wonderful to see you both stand up for your belief. The world makes this difficult but you stress what is important and that is God and Jesus.
Missed seeing the little ones in this video!
Well said Cody and Jessie, that Jesus should be the focus of why we celebrate Christmas. Like you both said the children can still all enjoy the festivities and join in the celebration, knowing the true reason for the celebration. Having the children open up a new book to read for each day approaching Christmas spreads out the anticipation and helps keep the kids focus and enjoyment.
Well done!
I loved today’s video, as usual! Thank you for sharing your sweet traditions. And I pray you all have a Very Merry Christmas!!
Way to go you two. For showing the world the real reason of Christmas. God bless you.
Where in the Bible does it talk about Christmas?
Great video ❤️
Happy xmas in advance… From manipur
I adore you and your family
Loved this. I did the same exact traditions with my kids…they're in their 30s now. One meaningful thing we also did was over Thanksgiving break I gave each child (I have 3) a paper grocery bag. They filled it with working, in good condition, toys and we took them to an organization who distributed the toys to needy families. It was so sweet to watch and listen to them as they carefully chose what went into their bag. They always put one of their favorites in saying 'if it's my favorite it will be their favorite'. Thanks for sharing ❤️
I loved the joy you brought to this. Which after all, is what we ought to be bringing.
One nice thing is finding out Christians celebrate Christmas differently throughout the world. My wife is Hungarian, so St Nicholas comes on his feast day of December 6th. Really a wonderful miracle worker and bishop, who stood fast on the true teaching of Jesus. But he is known for his charity. He literally gave gold to save three daughters from prostitution. He was born of a wealthy family but gave all his wealth to the poor. So even though he is known also for his wonder working and preaching.
So Christmas starts Christmas eve for Hungarians. Lasts a few week, as I explain to the kids Jesus is so important we remember for a while. It takes time to read all the prophecy and it's fulfillment in Christ.
I have not experienced myself, but some remember the travel to Bethlehem. Others remember the angels, others the wise men. All the way to Jesus being baptized by John.
Now all those Biblical things are so important. Why?
Because of Christ. And when the kids are older you will talk with them about darkness and evil, and what the Holy Family went through for our Salvation.
Simply put, Jesus is the reason for the season. We pray and remember.
Love it that we can feel and see your love to Christ on this Chanel 🥰🙏
Christmas and Easter are Pagan.
No getting around it.
