Exploring the Munich Christmas Markets – Travel Vlog | A Cold, Rainy Day @ Münchner Christkindlmarkt
If you’re a lover of all things Christmas like we are, then visiting the European Christmas Markets is probably high on your travel wish list! And it’s no secret that Germany is home to some of the best and oldest markets in all of Europe. So to get into the Christmas spirit we hopped on a plane to Munich to explore the Münchner Christkindlmarkt… Matt’s first Christmas market EVER! Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t very cooperative for our visit but we pushed through the cold, rain, and sleet and did our best to make the most of it! Thankfully there was an abundance of hot Glühwein and sizzling Wurst to keep us warm!
Let us know your European Christmas Market recommendations in the comments!

== About Us ==
We’re Matt & Nat, a part-time, non-remote travel couple based out of Nashville, TN.
We launched in 2021 by visiting all 50 US states & documented our entire journey on our Blog & here on YouTube! After spending a full year focused on such a defined goal, 2022 left us feeling a little lost & wondering “What’s next?”. We continued traveling & creating vlogs but always with the “What’s next?” question lingering. During one of our trips we came across the book “1,000 Places to See Before You Die” & were immediately drawn in by it & knew that it had to be a part of our adventures. So, in January 2023 we officially launched our “1,000 Places To See Before You Die” series where we’ve set out to see as many of the “1,000 Places To See Before You Die”… before we die!
We hope you’ll join us on the adventure & find some adventures of your own along the way! And remember… It’s better to see something once (even if only for a moment) than to hear about it a thousand times.

Have you ever been to European Christmas Markets??🎄If so, what's your favorite one?
All of that looked delicious. Hot food is always a plus. Especially when it’s cold. We would love to do this one year.
💚💚💚💚
Such a pity that your folks didn't try make you maintain your German🥹 it's so nice knowing multiple languages. I'm from South Africa and all I know is English😂 now in Europe and meet people who know 4/5 languages and it's wild! Nice video guys 😊
Beautiful couple living their best lives 🥰😊
Matt look like maluma ❤
HOW AM I JUST FINDING YOU NOW?? JOINING YOUR PATREON STAT!!!!
I just returned from München a week ago and watching your video brought back all those feelings I had there! It rained my whole trip too, however it wasn’t super cold. Great job making the most of it!!
Is Munich worth going to see at Christmas? I’m really worried about the cold 🥶
My new fave vloggers!
My German grandmother would make us Stollen every year for Christmas. I buy it now – it’s a tradition, and wouldn’t be the holiday without it 🎄
You two are so cute!!♥️
Hot tip – Augustiner Bauhaus
Thank you for sharing your Munich Christmas Market with us. I am so excited for I will be there is December 2023. You gave me tips and made me feel not quite as scared going there. I am sorry for the rainy day, hope I will have a nicer day.
Fun!!!
No, Germany is cold! Now warmth unless you drink Glue-vein?
Been there, done that! Cold and wet! 2007 Gluivine is si good and warming!
Germany ❤❤❤
Thank you guys!!
We were there. It was completely freezing and snow in Munich, then turned to rain when we got to Nuremberg… and then almost t-shirt weather in Berlin… I’m surprised they had any gluewein cups left because my wife kept them all… 🤷♂️
🇵🇱I am happy with video vlogs like this, providing information on beautiful and interesting tourist attractions that can spoil the eye in every corner. waiting for another vlog.
Lol, act like dumb Americans!
I just finished the whole video,I would love to go in December for the experience, but the weather seemed miserable.I gotta do the Christmas markets once, but I'll stick to less cold months going to Germany.
Man I am so jealous right now., lol. All the Brot, schnitzel, currywurst, Glühwein, etc. Bummer it was such a rainy and cold day, but thank you so much for sharing. Brought back some great memories from our trip to Munich a few years ago. Looking forward to your next video!
Dang if y’all don’t have some bad luck when it comes to weather!! 😅 Sending ALL the good weather vibes your way for your 2023 travels!! 🥳🎆 But I appreciate that you’re such troopers to take us along, rain or shine.
The hashbrown-but-better with sour cream… 🤤
These markets are just the cutest!!
Bahaha—finally the dumb American thing pays off. 😂🤣😅
Beautiful city. 💕✨
The architecture is amazing to look at in Europe. Too bad it rained for you guys.
Christmas Goals…y’all honestly made it look way more fun than the low temps and ice allowed…plus the hot food and glühwein warmed my spirits…Merry Christmas and Happy 2023!
Please stop complaining about the rain every video. You guys went to Germany in the Winter, what do you expect? Try to be more positive, and not negative all the time!
Honestly, does the weather dictate your attitude for every video? The complaining about rain is starting to get old.
Love the Christmas Markets in Germany (and Austria). Munich's are wonderful and with the freezing rain you have the place almost to your own. FYI, a tour of the Residenz is fantastic. Our favorite was the small market in Altötting (about an hour half by train southeast of Munich).
I'm sorry the weather was so bad when you both were out here. Nice that you both were able to get your hands on lots of hot food. I'm curious to know from Nat's perspective if being here brought her back to her childhood like she was hoping for? Hopefully if you both ever get to make back out there again the weather will be better and it won't be cold and rainy next time. God Bless.
OMG!! That clock was absolutely beautiful!! Awesome trip, thank you for sharing with all of us!! I wanna go now🎄🎄🎄
brilliant 🧑🤲
The clock show was super cool.
What miserable weather but at least its a good excuse to eat and drink all the things.
The medieval market looked cool. xx
Hi everyone good morning happy Tuesday morning and happy new year to all of you guys and I hope that 2023 brings you a lot of love and happiness I enjoy your channel because you all amazing
Omg you missed out on the Stollen it's AMAZING
So excited to see you in Europe! If you're ever in Edinburgh, hit me upppp! (My personal favourite when it comes to Christmas is Denmark, especially their amazing glogg fortified with rum in Tivoli gardens x) )
Love you two! I felt for you in that cold, rainy weather as it's the same here in So Cal while I'm watching your video. Glad you had some good eats & drinks! Looked yummy! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
🤗❤️❤️
Hi guys,
I just want to say that I am a huge fan of your videos and it’s really interesting to see your reactions to a typical German Christmas market. I am from Germany and currently living in Trier (next to Luxemburg). The rain really describes what you need to know about German winter weather (it doesn’t get better until march). When you are looking for another Christmas experience for this year, I really recommend the “Trierer Weihnachtsmarkt” because it is located in one of the oldest German Cities, which was captivated by the Romans many many years ago and is considered one of the prettiest Christmas places in Europe. You can also include other tourist attractions (like the oldest German bridge, the “Porta Nigra”(an old Gateway to the City built by the Romans,…)) to your trip or visit the Christmas market in Luxemburg, which is only a one-hour-drive destination. Just check it out. It is really worth it!!!
By the way I am a psychology student and I am going to the US for a couple of months this August to study abroad. Your videos really helped to decide which places I definitely have to visit during my stay in Minnesota.
Thanks a lot for that!!
Kind regards from Germany,
Alice
Awesome 🤩
Oh man! The food looked so good! Bummer about the weather, but well done making the best of a bad situation! If you only have one day somewhere, it might not always be the best conditions. I think this video shows some great examples of “make the best of it”…especially the directions to the bathroom. Well done!
