Santa (satan) was a german tradition promoted by victora's german husband albert, the same victoria who who scorned the Irish during its and its government genocide of the people
I'm Irish-american and I never knew putting a candle in the window had a name. We've done it my whole life. I remember my grandmother didn't like that my mom switched to electric candles lol
Many things were forgotten after the family came out to NZ, Australia and USA, Mum told me that on new year's Eve, her father would visit all the neighbours with a bottle of port. They called this 'first footing'' you also had to have a coin in your pocket, to start the year with wealth, as it meant to go on So many things forgotten
I think the funniest thing about the candle in the window tradition evolving is that a lot of people now unwittingly buy electric menorahs for their windows. I always think to myself that Ireland has the largest Jewish population right around Christmas!

God hurling and Christmas heaven to me.
I can see where these traditions managed to get transplanted into America through Irish Americans. Lots of us put candles in windows
and on thanksgiving, not Christmas, itโs tradition to play American football while you wait for dinner.
