#yule #yuletraditions #paganchristmas
In today’s witch vlog I want to take you through my preparations for Yule.
And while I am decorating for Christmas and Yule, I would like to share some of the pagan origins of Christmas traditions with you too. And maybe give you some inspiration on how to celebrate Yule or how to prepare for it. It is that magical time of year again, filled with the scent of dried oranges and freshly baked Christmas cookies, the sounds of the softly crunching snow under my boots, and twinkle lights in the windows – I absolutely adore Winter! How are you celebrating Yule and have you gotten your Christmas tree yet?

Very interesting! Have a cool Yule!
I've just finished cooking a Thoma wheel and omg my house smells amazingly and, after taking a little bite, I can say that it taste so yummy.
Amazing, thank you for the recipe.
Blessed Yule 2023 β€
Do you have cardinals in Bavaria? I thought they were just a North American bird
I've done generic Soulstice celebrations for several years, not really based in history but more in "what feels right". Today, the 21st, is the big day for me. I generally make some kind of treat with natural sweetener, be it pure maple or pure honey. Generally cookies or marshmallows (no gelaten, I'm vegetarian). I also tend to do what I call "march of the soulstice", a night time solo walk, not near a bussling city. I also tend to watch Xena Warrior Princess: A Soulstice Carol every year. Even though there are things I criticise in retrospect (Sentaclese? A baby that was clearly supposed to be a Jesus stand in at the end? Come on. That said I even have a soft spot for that stuff as it helped me draw the line. They brought winter soulstice into public conscience). Definately it was essential to helping me regain some of my childhood innocence, exposing me to the idea of "so much of what I loved about Christmas has zero to do with Christianity" (I know that makes me sound old, I wasn't born when Xena was released. I was introduced to it by fellow members of the LGBTQ community). Me being someone who ditched a lot of things I loved as a young child over religious trauma and opening me up to loving variations of those things and following my own path as a Pagan. Oh, and I write my own music for it. I figure since the Christians stole a lot of their traditions they probably stole their music too, so that means I'll bring melodic baselines (where the main melody people recognise isn't in the baseline) up a couple octaves, harmonise off of that, and change the tempo. I will say Handel is a gold mine for "melodic baselines where the baseline isn't the recognised melody". I haven't really done "the yule tree" because I have a "trinket tree", a year round symbol I invented myself being a van lifer as a convenient way to collect trinkets celebrating my hobbies, which are not seasonal (and neither is the trinket tree, it's year round!). I'm sure others do something similar but not sure if they draw the distinction like that, I started with a handmade bicycle ornament and it grew with my visiting Holiday World as a roller coaster nerd and getting an ornament souvineer with a roller coaster logo a couple years ago. I have been curious to learn more about the historical way of doing things
I love your videos. Thank you!!
This is such a lovely video, thank you. Also, as someone with Balkan ancestry Iβm amazed at how similar our visual characteristics are to one another!
I have German, Irish, and Scottish ancestry. So this is very interesting
Yay its Practically here
I want wife witch
I hate trees getting cut down and thrown away in 2 weeks. I perfer garland instead of whole trees.
We make a mix of regular hay, clover, and alfalfa all chopped up, sweetened grains, and a sprinkling of raw cane sugar for the livestock when the weather gets really cold and when it's really nasty weather, we out some fodder and both a sweet block and a salt block out for the wild things as well. As someone new to broader paganism, I'm wondering if this would be acceptable for the Wild Hunt as well?
Since I'm of Eastern Slavic heritage..I'd have a live Norway Pine in my house..and a Father Frost figurine on my Altar
The Nazis used the hooked cross symbol…and a Swastika that was turned 45 degrees

I like you
Was pretty based when St. Boniface rolled up and cut down Odin's child sacrifice tree and created Christmas on the ashes of a demon.
Schade, daΓ du kein Deutsch sprichst
You were actually correct about leaving out whisky for Santa. In Scotland that's what we do ,with shortbread and a carrot for the reindeer, Sherry is used in England with mince pies, and that's why we get better presents from Santa
So interesting to learn about German Yule traditions! (One of my grandma's was German, but strictly Lutheran). Leaving out a little food for the spirits, reminds me of the spirit plate traditions we had growing up in Indigenous American culture.
I LOVE THE NATURE FEEL IN YOUR VIDEOS <3
What about lazy and drunken men?

We have a "mixed" relationship, I'm a Norse pagan, he is atheist. However, he has come to understand that our tree MUST be up before Yule every year. Bright Yule blessings from Berlin!
Alright what do mean by " Santa doesn't exist "π‘ there
Loved the video β€
You have the prettiest little stirring stick for your tea! Is it a stick or a spoon? It's beautiful!
