When the holidays roll around, people in various parts of the world celebrate in their own unique way. Some put up a decorative tree and wait for Santa Claus to bring presents, while others feast on a moldy seal that has been fermenting for months. We’re going to tell you about this tradition and more, including Krampus Night, the Japanese’s love for KFC, and the truth about Mari Lwyd in our video. This is 10 Weird Holiday Traditions From Around the World.
In Sweden, they’ve been erecting a straw goat for decades, but the tradition of setting the goat on fire is something that accidentally became a custom throughout the years. Another part of the world that has a strange holiday tradition is Catalonia. Children are gifted presents and treats inside of a hollowed out wooden log. If this sounds wacky to you, just wait until you hear about the spiderwebs used to decorate trees in Ukraine and the roller skating event that happens in Caracas, Venezuela.
In Norway, they like to hide their brooms from witches during their yearly traditions, and people of Oaxaca, Mexico celebrate the holidays by carving radishes that they can later sell after Christmas mass. But one of the weirdest traditions is the moldy seal that’s eaten in Austria and other parts of Europe. To hear about all of these outrageous holiday traditions from around the world, be sure to watch our video. Let us know in the comments section which of these customs shocked you the most, and don’t forget to subscribe to TheTalko to see more great videos like this one!

Sorry but in Ukraine people consider web and a spider to be for bad luck and keeping a house in an untidy way. So the UKRAINIANS never decorate their houses with such staff.
Aww sweet spiders in Ukraine
Greenlanders, you are too cruel to feel good about your tradition!
My favourite the festive Christmas pooping log! 😂

that history is completely false. The New World order invented such a false story to make believe it's something diabolic to scare christian people and disappear step by step christian traditions and replace it with their false religion.
Santa Claus was Nicholas de Bary a christian missionary who went to nordic countries.

Ok, the KFC is not weird
In fact, the Catalonian Wooden creature tradition, doesn't work exactly like that. We hit (softly) the Tió (that's it's name) singing the song and then he "poops" presents.
(of course the gifts were already there, but hidden by the blanket)
they should come up with a new holiday cause every year is the same shit holidays
I like krampus, I was we embraced him here
I am so glad that I live where we only celebrate Santa Clause because I would hate to have Crumpus day. I would get nightmares for years!

There's a mistake for the traditional wooden log called "tió" that "shits" gifts for children. They don't just go to bed and wake up the day after to see their presents under the blanket covering the log. The setup can vary, but usually adults send kids to warm up the stick near a heat source (it can be anything even an unplugged stove) so as to have time to hide a gift, then children comeback with they warm sticks to beat the log while sing a song (there are many different songs) and the gift appears misteriously. More often than not is a gift at a time for every child, so it can take a while and it's great fun for children. When they are little they get overexcited. Sometimes, adults don't send kids away to warm sticks, but they find a way to make gifts appear under the blanket with a setup where there's somebody pushing presents from a false wall or similar, that's usually done in public squares. We don't wake expecting anytyhing from Tió, that we leave for the three Wise Kings, Papa Noel (Santa) or these other magical and misterious night visitors.
The log is not hollow, that would be weird
I celebrate kampoes
pircture of the Finland house in Stockholm when talking about Gävle and showing a chinese man with a broom in not Norway. Who is responsible for this?

The Catalonian log or tio de natal, I think you feed The log with oranges before you go to bed. When you wake up you hit it and it "magically" poops out nougat, also The Gävle bock tradition is just that someone burnt it down one year and then they started doing it every year.

As an Icelander, I'm mad that they didn't include Iceland because Iceland is never included in their videos.
I'm talking about The Yule Cat (Jólakötturinn), Grýla, The Yule Lads (Iceland's 13 Santa Clauses) you can look it up.
But still it's little bid unnecessary to not place Iceland there in the list.
Krampus sounds like the monster that gives you a pain in the neck or back. 😂
Philippines only use or money only the philippines only pesos
Honestly, all of our traditions are weird bc they're all different .
What the hell is wrong with you? We dont do that kind of things in Ukraine . You should check the information before you post it.
You are completly wrong about the norwegian christmas. Honestly check your facts.
Hey I am from Norway and the tradition about the witches is completly wrong. It might have been a tradition in the 18-1900 But thats not the case now.

#austria #österreich #krampus #perchtenlauf #steyria #steiermark #perchtenlauf
O and in Austria we have no Santa Claus instead we have the Christkind who's like a Angel or Jesus or so. And with the krampus comes the Nikolaus who's like Santa Claus but the krampus and the Nikolaus come on the 5th of December.
Also you forgot the Perchtenlauf (Perchten are like Krampus but they should scare of the winter) and there many kids and adults go and there many groups of Perchten come with rods and they hit those who are near the fence. And they don't drink as much alcohol.
