I know of a legend also about why some Cats have the letter M in their foreheads. Its a very beautiful story of The Blessed Mother and the Cat. It was almost the same story with the spider. The story goes like this: Baby Jesus was crying because of the cold. The wrap that Mary brought was not enough (because of course, who would have thought that God be born in a stable). While St. Joseph was away looking for their additional needs and for the newborn babe. With the Animals inside the stable, Mary asked kindly who can help her warm up Baby Jesus. Suddenly, a cat came close to Baby Jesus and rested in his belly. Baby Jesus stopped crying and slept soundly. In gratitude to the Cat, Mary put her hand in the cat’s forehead, left a mark on it as a symbol of the animal’s generosity that Holy Night.
In my personal view, I believe in this legend because everytime I put the statue of Baby Jesus for Christmas, My Cats rest their heads in His belly. My cats always look tenderly with Baby Jesus. Cats love Jesus and Mary.
3 Hail Marys for Fr. Chris Alar and all the MIC Fathers Brothers and Marian Helpers 🙏🏻🌹🌹🌹✝️
Merry Christmas Father Chris.
I remember Father Chris mentioning things like the Tree and the tinsel in a previous talk last year, and it was an inspiration for me to look into a lot of Christmas and general traditions on my own. Glad to see Catholic traditions being highlighted and put into context. Too often we hear all Catholic traditions are pagan and were ‘stolen’ from local groups. However, a lot of the times they are either coincidences, natural progressions of faith, or in the cases like the Christmas tree legend, are shows of dominance of God over lesser ones.
It makes me both sad and frustrated when people try to undermine Christmas and its rich traditions, especially when they use lies and misinformation to do so. It’s especially disheartening when other so-called Christian groups use these lies to write off Christmas and other holidays entirely. Yes, the world has corrupted some aspects of the faith and tradition, but to discard the entire thing off that is denying the Truth and goodness God has given us. Jesus entering the world as a show of God’s love should be constantly on our minds, but having a set date and ways to celebrate it just makes the notion much more memorable and unties us more fully.
And good luck to Brother Jacob on his journey. I’ll be praying for him and others called to vocations 😇
WOW! JUST: WOW! (THANKS)
Its funny how almost every european culture claims to have the origins of the christmas tree.
Thank you Fr. Chris. Merry Christmas to all of you at thr Shrine.
Ive never heard if the spider web story much less tinsel symbolism. Can someone provide more info?
Thank you Father Christ and all the Marian Fathers. Merry Christmas to all of you and the Marian Helpers.
I come to these videos every time I allow anything but the love of God to permeate my soul. All of these faith lessons (my favorite being anything to do with Marian apparitions and End Times), not only help me get back on track, but also teach me some interesting facts despite being a life long Catholic and daughter of a wonderful Deacon. I’m cantoring for 2 masses this evening and despite feeling sadness about a relationship, I’m here warming up my mind and voice to lead thru gratitude and joy. Merry Christmas Fr. and thank you for all you have done. 🎄♥️🎄

How Christmas Traditions Came To Be – Living Divine Mercy TV Show (EWTN) Ep.
Those who try to secularise Christmas by calling it 'the holidays' fail totally. They are calling it 'the holy days' which is correct.
Another matter re Christmas gifts. Does this not recall the gifts of the Wise Men? I have read somewhere that in Spain, gifts are given on Epiphany { the festival of the Wise Men, Jan 6 or thereabouts] rather than Christmas.
