This is a wonderful video!
Sacks are brilliant. The best decision I made as a parent was to never do the elf. The tooth fairy is hard enough to have over 20 times to have an elf 20 days in a row every year, just can’t. We split out of town gifts to do on the eve at home. Santa in morning and then local family later around noon. We see gram and aunt and cousins. We found that going to all the great aunts on two sides too much on the day. He literally cried no more presents and it’s too long a day anyway. They would send things at a later point but sadly they would not get to see him open it. I think they kept hoping we’d change and suddenly come one year. 3 present openings in 16 hours is plenty. 5 in 22 hours is ridiculous. Clothing was never a Santa or mom present when little. If he needed pants why keep it wrapped in a box for 6 weeks? And someone else would surely get some so there would be something new to wear midwinter. Christmas is lighter cause so many buy for him so I buy stuff throughout the year like books, movies, clothes, paper, stuff needed for activities, technology.. Stuff that when I was growing up would be a wait until Christmas to get.
Here in Ireland the list are generally done the last weekend in November, first few days in December as the main TV channel (our version of BBC) does a toy show on the last Friday of November. The toy show also donated all toys shown to the children's hospitals across the country.
my younger brother is 12… so Christmas is a little bit different in my house now. But the Christmas elf still brings new PJs on Christmas Eve… I’m 17 and still believe that the Christmas elf brings PJs on Christmas Eve … 😉
Absolutely LOVED the way you did this video and made it ‘safe’ to watch with kids!! You’re so clever! Love watching you so much xxx
We have a lovely big Christmas dinner and then sit around the log fire and chat and have a laugh.
I'm here in the US of A. I never believed in Santa neither did my kids or my grandkids. He is just a cute part of Christmas, not the Reason. When i was a child, i got a stocking on St. Nicholas. Part of our German tradition. One gift on Christmas Eve.
Hi rhi 👋 im from wolverhampton, lovely seeing your Christmas traditions. I have a 5 yr old boy and a 3 yr old girl but luckily there bdays are may and july so have a bit of time inbetween that and xmas 🙂 my boy is definitely asking more questions this year about santa etc so we have gone with santa brings things off the lists and us and family buy other things. Christmas in our house is for the kids we have nieces and nephews too so we all buy for the kids and not the adults. 🙂 x
We do it the other way round santa brings the expensive gifts and then for there birthday they also get big gifts but as there getting older the older ones get the same amount of money but we don’t budget I just buy and buy we love Christmas Day best day of year and there spoilt rotten 🙂 this year I’ve been more thoughtful with what they will actually use 🙂
Completely agree with the stress free Xmas dinner, There’s been years when I’ve tried to do all the trimmings and it’s a lot of food leftover as the kids are far too excited to eat a 3 course meal 😂🤦♀️ now it’s just one meat, two veg, frozen roasties, pigs n blankets and Yorkshire’s and instant gravy 👍 job done ✅ don’t bother with dessert as kids get so much chocolate from family
Weve told the kids that because santa moves so fast between households he cant catch corona virus hes too fast but he will be sanitising too my oldest says shes leaving the hand sanitizer out for him (shes autistic so has taken me literally) merry Christmas xx
Love a Christmas tradition. Our Xmas tradition from being a child was my dad going downstairs first to make toast (we had to eat some before we were allowed down stairs) and he always would shout 'he has been.' I cried when my hubby did it the first time we had a baby at Christmas!
Love these traditions. Father Christmas is very organised. Good plan. Especially this year.
Christmas, Christmas… "It's lost all meaning." 🤣🤣🤣 This video is absolutely brilliant! Thanks for sharing your traditions with us. I'm definitely thinking of incorporating some of these into our celebrations. Hope you have a fab December. Xxx
Christmas is for kids! We only have one child but from the start we have said Santa only brings 3 presents and a stocking, mum and dad supply the rest, this is incase if money was very tight one year she wouldn't be disappointed that Santa only bought 3 presents. We also stay in PJ's all day , eat chocolate for breakfast , Christmas dinner about 1pm then just snack in the evening. We also don't warp stocking presents, the first year she really understood about 18 months old, we ended up still unwrapping presents on boxing day as she had to open each present and play with it, now she is 9 is open everything quickly then play!
Absolutely love the girls Christmas outfit in the video , adorable 😍
Best intro ever – tactful 10/10 😄
Looooooove this you’re amazing
Great video Rhi. I know the feeling of close birthdays. My twins turned 4 on December 2nd. I find it hard to decide to give more or less for Christmas for them. I feel it might get harder as they get older and ask for specific gifts x
Aussie so Xmas is middle of summer and could likely be 40 degrees so every year favourite thing to make is a pavlova with whipped cream and fruit for after lunch
Iv my youngest son bday on the 19th Dec I usually give him a small gift so not to ruin Xmas . I always but all presents family give my 6 kids under the tree our tradition is we open presents under the tree after our Xmas lunch that way the kids appreciate each present and who gave them.
Yup, Christmas is for the kids!!
I’m from Wales (Caernarfon), but moved to Orlando FL when I was a teenager. We’ve kept a lot of our traditions from Home . We always have Christmas Crackers (and everyone wears the paper crown at dinner … my husband had a hard time getting on that train 😅😅). I’ve always got a box of quality street, celebrations and roses on hand (THANK YOU Amazon 👌🏻). Mince pies will be made next week, even if I’m the only one who eats them 🙈 And, I still call him Sion Corn ❤️ Nadolig Llawen 🥰
I do less cooking in recent years. I used to do a huge breakfast and a big dinner. But the last couple of years I buy heat and serve pulled pork and we have pulled pork sandwiches. I make potato salad in advance and a couple of other easy side dishes. Nobody complains and its yummy. Also with gift buying im doing more conscious shopping. So they are getting the bigger things they really want and clothes and things they need instead of 1 main gift and a ton of cheaper stuff which usually breaks in a day.
We try to have Santa only give pretty average gifts. We would prefer to get the credit for the cool big gifts and would hate if our kids were to compare with other kids that may not get similar gifts from Santa.
We have 3 birthdays in the Christmas week to buy for as well as Christmas. Planning is key for this, which I admit I have completely failed at this year.
We have an early drop off by Santa on Christmas eve. He drops off to the front door a small bag – contains PJ, treats etc so everyone is aware he is about, so we have to be extra good and go to sleep quick and we have nice fresh PJ's for the morning.
Lovely traditions I am from Staffordshire sending love prayers and blessings to you all x
This video has me chuckling so much. Father Christmas is just such a clever guy 🤭
I like the idea of putting the sacks out together. Might have to pinch that idea. I do get the present swap getting to much. I exchange gift between my children and friends children but I have two children and most of my friends only have one so I feel like I have to spend day £20 instead of £10 because they don’t £20 on my two children. Does that make sense?
saw you on tv last night
Hiii 🙂 I’m from Rio de Janeiro/Brazil
Hi I'm from Northern Ireland love ur videos ur so organised x ohh we r near the same 6th Dec then a 9th Dec then at 29th Dec
In our house, Santa wraps everything individually. For instance, My son got Minecraft figure keyrings last year and his Elves opened the packet and wrapped each one. It was ten gifts for the price of one and it made the excitement of unwrapping last a bit longer
HI rhi…from Nottinghamshire..lovely to see your vloggs on Christmas traditions xx👍🎄🎁
Hi, I’m from Leicester x
I have 7 children …. the youngest two ( 3&4 ) are easy…. my middles ( 11, 12 ) trickier they’ve not asked for a lot but like computers so more expensive ( apparently they’ve everything they want and need ) not very helpful lol 😂 now my 14 yr old (ADHD @ Autistic) ….. now he’s asked for a game for his PS4 and I know if that’s all he received on Christmas Day he’d have a full on melt down …. his stocking therefore has chocolate 🍫 and sweets 🍬 which he also loves and a tub of hot chocolate ( random I know but he loves it 😬 ) my oldest (21&23) £50 cash and a stocking full of “stuff” and my husband is getting 3D number plates ( the biggest kid of all lol 😂)
Me ….. all I want is a Boxing Day bath in peace and for everyone to eat leftovers and cold cuts from the fridge …… wishful thinking 🤔 lol 😂
Christmas 🎄 eve always hot chocolate and pizza 🍕 x
Tfs your traditions x
Great 👍 video,I’m from Manchester xx
As Im an only child (and now an adult) Christmas has changed only slightly. Every xmas eve we go for a drive to look at Christmas lights, and get a takeaway then go home and watch Home Alone 2, Arthur Christmas and Muppet Christmas carol. Then its off to bed ready to get up for fresh bagels in the morning.
