21:16 It was a private conversation. Raanan's pathetic.
Potter like Trump haha? Yeah right. Potter is like Rothschilds and Larry Fink and Jared Kushner and so on.
Raanan: "he could have called the police but chooses not to so he can torture them"🤣🤣🤣
Has anyone made a supercut of Raanan saying stupid shit? "Brainal" would be a great addition.
Good God, I can't stand Raanan's movie opinions. It seems like he tries too hard to be contrarian. Joe brings it up a lot, but I think Raanan has a very limited way of looking at movies. They have to meet this specific criteria, and if they don't then he forms a hardheaded opinion that the movie stinks and a majority of people are pretending or in denial. He really is a cinematic gas lighter.
Amazing pod, so god damn funny
Well another one of Raanan's "EVERYONE on the left is righteous and EVERYONE on the right are evil" misleading comments. We know you don't like John Hughes because he is republican but that line about one of the wet bandits saying how they would tear the kids balls off and put them in oil" never existed. Move along Raanan
40:44 "he's not afraid, he's a serial killer"
Disliking Home Alone because a kid tortures bad guys who are breaking into his home knowing he’s alone is the gayest, pussiest take of all time. It isn’t Saw. They could give up and not be thirsty for more and the pain would end, but they’re intent on pressing forward.
The commentary on violent conditioning is valid
Raanen always bringing up Pauline Kael reminds me of Kaufman clownin her in Im Thinking of Ending Things
Home Alone is the basis of school shootings according to Raanan… "Woof!"
God do I love Raanan demolishing the childhood dreams of you miserable lot in the comments and burning the bridges behind him. Love you too Joe! Great pod
Raanan is so irritating.
His take on Home Alone is truly baffling. His dismissal of so many of the jokes as only being funny because Joe is looking at them nostalgically is just crazy.
Joe mentions every episode how smart and "wise" Raanan is. If that's true, why does he say so many dumb things, contradict himself (constantly!), not understand or follow Joe's points, repeat himself (again, constantly!)…I could go on.
You know… I've never cared enough to watch It's a wonderful life a second time, but since Ranaan roasted it so much I'll watch it again. I guess that Ranaan isn't such a cunt as I thought
This take on Home Alone by Ranaan is too deep. It's a kid flick, jeez.
Wow I try to not let people’s opinion get on my nerves but raanan u killing me lol. Love the show but wow
Love the podcast thanks guys! Raanan never seen christmas vaction? geez louise best chevy film along with fletch imo. "fixed the newel post!"
McCauley Calkin was Bart Simpson for the theatres.
Julie Lois Dreyfuss and her husband are Yuppies in Christmas Vacation.
"Just because he's conservative doesn't mean he's racist"
Yeah but the fact that black people don't seem to exist in the art he creates might
"He's giving him Brainal"
Two thumbs up just made me laugh so hard, fuck! 9:53
Very enjoyable listening to you together.
Congratulations!
Old movies like IAWL present a lot of questions through modern filters. And honestly, I like hearing new/fresh/younger takes. I know the old ones.
Anyway, pharmacists were unregulated until about 1950, and often had poison/arsenic in an odorless, white powder form for psoriasis and topical skin treatments. The only way to discern it was taste – and they would do like Gower and put it on the tip of their tongue.
Sounds crazy, huh?
A lot of detective movies and tv shows utilized this trick, too. But I think probably only the discerning professional pharmacist could really distinguish it.
Cheers
(This podcast was labeled Chicago Movies and not Christmas Movies.
Looking forward to your Chicago Movies podcast. 😀)
I rewatched Weird Science recently and there’s some really out of touch scene where the kids hang out at the bar with black folks. The rich kid doing a “black” accent was unreal.
Edit: just to be clear, Weird Science is also John Hughes.
Favorite new podcast. Love you both for being contrarian and realistic.
Why do thieves deserve to go into a person's home and steal if the person they steal from is rich? That shit sounds like socialism, is that why? Yuck, dude.
After watching a few of these "joe and raanan talk movies" I am convinced Raanan is actually a character and not a real person, nobody could be this bad at reviewing movies. Its like the film a beautiful mind except hes the ugly mind and his talent is coming up with the dumbest reasons to critique movies.
I think Raanan confuses character flaws and movie flaws.
I agree with Ranaan, for once. Wow.
👍 👍
Hearing R talk about vacation movies it's so obvious, he needs to up his meds!!
What a Lib. Taking up for the criminals.
Raanan simply can't stop laughing, which makes laughter meaningless.
Again, missed the point of Home Alone. It’s a coming of age movie. At the beginning Keven is incompetent. Then he grows up, faces his fears and protects his families house. And Fuller wetting the bed, Pesci’s gold tooth. All gold
Respect Ranaan’s opinions. You don’t have to agree with him, but it makes for good discussion
