perfect video, as I'm a Swedish student and had homework. the homework was about comparing Sweden and Irelands Christmas traditions. and I didn´t know anything about Ireland. thanks, man! I'm also going to sub.
No Offense, But your Christmas is weird, I mean what the fakin Hell is a Steven's day. Can't you just celebrate the holidays like a normal person
Iam Canadian of Irish decent (Belfast) but we do a jigs dinner moose meat cabbage carrots. Turnup black pudding and dumplings with copious amounts of whiskey and dancing
These traditions ( very nice traditions) are the same all over the 32 counties of Ireland .
It’s the one country that seem to really celebrate and look forward to the festivities and generally everyone is in a good mood .
Of course it’s only a minority of people these days including n/ Ireland that have any interest in listing to the Q of E speech .
I despair of people who decorate their houses weeks before Christmas and then remove everything before Hogmanay. Don't get me started on exterior displays and flashing window lights!! The traditional tree decoration was done on Christmas Eve and January 6th saw the removal of the tree, holly, garlands, etc. If you ask people on which date Twelfth Night falls most would plump for Jan.6th, but it is the 5th.
On another site, not one of Al's, the contributor states that the 26th December is known as St.Stephen's day in the ROI but Boxing Day in NI, this is generally true but I wonder how many know that Boxing Day strictly cannot fall on a Saturday or Sunday? This is because the practice of giving a Christmas box, hence the name, was given on a weekday to tradesmen, postmen, etc.
I much prefer St. Stephen's day, even as an atheist;Wenceslas looking out on Boxing Day?
you need to tell the world about tayto cheese and onion, brown lemonade and 15s
I was in the hospital for Christmas and New Years, so I missed being with my family for both 😢.
Your Christmas traditions are great! Turkeys are delicious and I've tried eating it for the first time. Here in the Philippines, Christmas carols are always seen and heard everyday in the month of December and the display of Christmas lights and trees are seen on streets and malls. We also have Noche Buena which is our food preparation at 12 midnight which is already the 25th day of December.
Only we gay prods watch that stupid old basters speech
Hello, what is your plan for next video?
Merry Christmas Alister
Anyone else here from the south?
Just curious not here to say up the RA
Thank you Alister! Merry Christmas to you. I recently spent about 2 weeks in Belfast. Witnessing first hand how much the city loves Christmas was the best thing in the world. I cannot wait to go back. Cheers!
It was great to hear about Northern Ireland. You can hear a lot about the traditions in the UK in general, but not so much about Northern Ireland. I wish you a Merry Christmas from Hungary! 🙂
Well done they are all correct most of time people get at least two wrong ❤️💚❤️💚
Happy Christmas Al 😘
Merry Christmas!
Have a great Christmas mate
Aye that's grand so it is. Briefly on the 'care homes' and their position in the town's society – for those subscribers who might not realize what a wee small country The North is. By urban planning pretty much every town and village will have its assisted living / old age home. For the families (FAHM-lees) and residents one's loved ones are still in the neighborhood; this in the largest sense. Easy to stop on for a wee minute, and the visitor makes the rounds of all the ladies and gents in the common room. 'How's John th'day?' 'That's a smart wee cardigan, Peggy…' 'Jimmy's back from America, yev brought the good weather with ye..' You know everyone, so the residents remain connected and not isolated at this point in their lives. School visits for holiday's, hundredth birthday parties (not uncommon in The North!), and other occasions will be from the schools these older folks attended, their children may teach at, and invariably with great grandkids in the group. A friendly multigenerational setting in a country where everyone knows everyone else – or worked with your cousin – so they know ye as well hi.
Merry Christmas! We don't celebrating Christmas but we celebrating new year night .. But I love the Christmas items and I'm buying and decorating our home.. I want to one day celebrating new year or Christmas in Belfast.
Wow, we have very different traditions. In Poland, we usually leave one empty seat for the unknown guest, and we usually like to hide a hay under the table cloth.
